Bangladesh’s stocks turn mixed at midday Monday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks turned mixed trend at midday on Monday as investors are active on both sides of trading, market operators said.

Following the previous three days’ correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on positive trend amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 11 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 42 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX gained more than 21 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 56 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced nearly 3.78 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index lost 6.0 points at 12:00 noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,698 points, advancing 3.78 points or 0.06 percent at 12:00 noon.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 2.65 points or 0.20 percent to stand at 1,322 points till then.

However, DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also fell 0.71 points or 0.03 percent to reach at 2,119 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.04 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.

BD Thai Aluminium was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 108 million changing hands, closely followed by Shepherd Industries BDT 79 million, Beximco BDT 68 million, Queen South Textile BDT 62 million and Western Marine Shipyard BDT 60 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 151 advanced, 105 declined and 65 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

However, the port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend till then with CSE

All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – losing 6.0 points to stand at 17,564 points, also at 12:00 noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 5.0 points to reach at 10,618 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 84 gained, 54 declined and 34 issues remained unchanged with BDT 78 million in turnover.
