Bangladesh’s stocks turn negative at midday Tuesday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks returned to the red at midday on Tuesday as cautious investors went on selling spree after monetary policy announcement.

Following the previous day’s positive note, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed upturn amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 23 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse gained 14 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the DSE gained more than 28 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) rose 30 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX went down by 13 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index lost 60 points at 12:0noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,162 points, losing 13.87 points or 0.22 percent at 12:00 noon.

The other indices also saw downturn trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 10.90 points or 0.47 percent to reach at 2,283 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 6.92 points or 0.48 percent to reach at 1,418 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.64 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.

Grameemphone was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 225 million changing hands, followed by Aamra networks BDT 64 million, Nahee Aluminum BDT 62 million, City Bank BDT 50 million and Monno Ceramic BDT 47 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 117 advanced, 126 declined and 69 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downturn till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – shedding 60 points to stand at 18,983 points, also at 12:00 noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 35 points to reach at 11,466 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 64 gained, 66 declined and 28 issues remained unchanged with BDT 64 million in turnover.
