Bangladesh’s stocks turn positive at midday Monday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh’s stocks turned in the positive trend at midday on Monday as some investors are active on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous day’s sharp decline, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) opened on positive note while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw negative trend amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced nearly 3.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse fell 16 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX fell more than 5.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse shed 31 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 5.81 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index fell 39 points at 12:00 noon, when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,218 points, advancing 5.81 points or 0.11 percent at 12:00 noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also gained 3.12 points to reach at 1,856 points till then.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 1.70 points to stand at 1,212 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 1.75 billion when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.

Monno Ceramic was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 137 million changing hands, closely followed by Intech BDT 78 million, Saiham Textile BDT 75 million, Khulna Power 63 million and Libra Infusion BDT 62 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 139 advanced, 140 declined and 40 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
However, the port city’s bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE), stayed in the negative trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse–losing 39 points to stand at 15,990 points, also at 12:00 noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also lost 20 points to reach at 9,693 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 55 gained, 71 declined and 25 issues remained unchanged with BDT 68 million in turnover.
