Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Bangladesh’s stocks witnessed volatility at midday on Monday as cautious investors are booking profits on sector-wise stocks, especially banks.
Following the previous week’s upturn, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid rising trading activities.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 20 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index of port city bourse rose 6.62 points at 10:45am.
However, it fell sharply as cautious investors started to book profit on banking issues. After 30 minutes of trading the DSEX fell 7.62 points while CSE All Shares Price Index fell 11 points at 11:00am.
After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX lost about 4.50 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index shed 12 points at 12:00 noon when the report was filed.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,219 points, losing 4.50 points or 0.07 percent at 12:00 noon.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also fell 1.39 points or 0.06 percent to reach at 2,258 points.
However, the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) stay positive with gaining 3.76 points or 0.28 percent to reach at 1,347 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.85 billion, when the report was filed at 12:00 noon.
IFAD Autos was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 333 million changing hands, closely followed by Dhaka Bank BDT 234 million, AB Bank BDT 171 million, City Bank BDT 145 million and GP BDT 127 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 110 advanced, 137 declined and 67 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw negative trend till then with its CSE All Shares Price Index of – losing 12 points to stand at 19,290 points, also at 12:00 noon.
The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also fell 7.08 points to reach at 11,678 points till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 59 gained, 83 declined and 28 issues remained unchanged with BDT 463 million in turnover.
