Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the early hour’s upward momentum on Tuesday as enthusiastic investors remained active on large-cap stocks.
The market opened with an optimistic note in the morning with the key index of the major bourse gaining more than 40 points to stand at 5,034.36 points within first 15 minutes of trading.
After 30 minutes of trading, DSEX reached at 5,029.80 points, advancing 36 points or 0.45 per cent at 11:00am.
After two hours of trading at 12:30pm, the market maintained the upward movement with the key index of the DSE advanced 37.09 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 46.59 points.
DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:
After two hours of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange reached at 5,030.63 points, advancing 37.09 points or 0.74 percent at 12:30pm.
The two other indices also maintained upward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips jumped 13.47 points or 0.75 percent to reach at 1,811.73 points at 12:30pm.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also soared 3.23 points or 0.27 percent to reach at 1,184.46 points.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 6.40 billion when the report was filed at 12:30pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 189 advanced, 98 declined and 29 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor riding on Beximco and Unique Hotel and Resorts.
Beximco dominated the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 264 million changing hands till then, closely followed by Unique Hotel BDT 228 million, Bangladesh Building Systems BDT 178 million, Keya Cosmetics BDT 169 million and LankaBangla Finance BDT 158 million.
CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also maintained the upward trend after two hours of trading as its Selective Category Index – CSCX – jumping 46.59 points to stand at 9370.21 points, also at 12:30pm.
Of the issues traded till then, 132 gained, 82 declined and 13 issues remained unchanged with BDT 380 million in turnover.
