Strike cripples normal life in eastern districts of Nepal

Kathmandu, Nepal (BBN) - Normal life in different parts of the eastern Nepal crippled for the second consecutive day on Wednesday due to shutdown strike called by a Maoist affiliated organization.

The Limbuwan Mukti Morcha, an ethnic outfit affiliated to Unified Communist Party of Nepal- CPN (Maoist), shut down local markets, factories, offices, educational institutions, and transportations in six districts of the region demanding autonomy for Kirat state.

The district headquarters Khaandbaari and other areas like Chainpur and Mintaar were badly hit by the shut down, local media reported.

On Tuesday,the Maoist-affiliated Kirat Mukti Morcha called general strike in six eastern districts - Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Udaypur, Khotang, Solukhumbu and Okhaldhunga - protesting the president's move to reinstate Chief of Army Staff Rookmangud Katawal.
