Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– An earthquake of 6.8 magnitudes jolted different parts of the country at 6:40 pm (local time) on Sunday sending people into wild panic in the capital and other cities and towns.
The earthquake had its epicentre on Sikkim region of India about 495 kilometers east-northeast of Agargaon Met office in the capital Dhaka, according to the Bangladesh Metrological Department statistics.
City dwellers being panicked ran out of their houses and offices and took shelter in open spaces or streets.
Report of any damage or casualty was not received immediately.
Mobile phone network was disrupted for some time after the quake.
