Sylhet, Bangladesh (BBN)-A student was killed in a factional clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), leading the closure of the university for indefinite period Thursday.

At least nine people were also injured in the clash.
Sumon Roy, the deceased, was a third year LLB student of Sylhet International University, police said.
The SUST authorities declared the university following the clash so that situation could not deteriorate further.
The Male students have been asked to vacate dormitories by 4:00pm on Thursday while female students will have to leave the campus by 9:00am Friday.
The factional clash ensued around 10:30am Thursday following establishing supremacy on the campus, sources said.
Witnesses said the activists locked in gunfight and at least 10 gunshots were fired and several crude bombs exploded during the clash.

Additional police forces have been deployed on the campus to bring the situation under control.
