Peshawar, Pakistan (BBN) - At least five people were killed and 12 others injured in a suicide blast in the country’s northwest Charsadda town on Thursday, police said.

Five persons including two policemen were killed when the suicide attacker detonated himself close to hujra (gust house) attached to house of Awami National Party (ANP) Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan.

People in a large number were coming to greet Eid to Asfandyar Wali Khan during celebrations on the second day of Eid-ul-Fitr when the incident happened, police confirmed.

Meanwhile, North West Frontier Province (NWFP) Information Minister Mian Iftikhar has strongly condemned the assassination attempt on ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali and termed it as ‘an act of terrorism,’ according to local media reports.
