Bangladesh is the fourth most domestically government bond issuing country in the Asia-Pacific region. During the last two decades, 1995-2016 to be precise, the government of Bangladesh issued some 428 bonds at the domestic market.

Bangladesh’s stocks extended the losing streak for the five straight sessions on Sunday, with key index of the major bourse dipping to 16 months low, as investors continued their selling spree on sector specific stocks.

Short-term private foreign debt rising sharply
Short-term private commercial borrowing from the external sources has been rising at a faster rate for the last five years. Such borrowing stood at Tk 1.87 billion in 2013, which was 46.71 per cent of the total borrowing, according to central bank statistics.
