Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The government has postponed Sunday’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations due to the down-to-dusk general strike called by opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
The decision was taken at an inter-board coordination committee meeting on Saturday, an official handout said.
According to the handout, the HSC examinations under the eight general boards will be held on May 22.
On the other hand, the Alim examinations under Madrasa Board will be held on May 9 while the examinations of Technical Board on May 2.
Other HSC and its equivalent examinations will be held as per earlier schedule, the handout added.
The HSC and its equivalent examinations began on April 1 with 9,26000 examinees sitting under 10 education boards across the country. The written exams will end on May 20.
The main opposition BNP on Thursday called the countrywide dawn-to-dusk strike for Sunday in protest at the “disappearance” of former lawmaker and Sylhet BNP Organising Secretary M Ilias Ali.
