Tax-free income ceiling for general taxpayers remains unchanged

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Despite soaring pressure of inflation, the threshold for tax-free income for general taxpayers remained unchanged at Tk 2.20 lakh in the proposed budget.

Women tax payers and tax payers of 65 years of age and above have to pay tax if they earn more than Tk 3.5 lakh while the ceiling for physically handicapped is 3.5 lakh.

On the other hand, war-wounded gazette freedom fighters’ tax ceiling is 4 lakh.
