Thailand to extradite 28 Bangladeshi Wednesday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Thailand is going to send back 28 Bangladeshis languishing in Thai jails for different periods, a foreign ministry press statement said in Dhaka.

A meeting was held between Paban Chowdhury, Charge d’ Affairs of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok and Chitraporn Arpornart, Director, Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand at the latter’s office on Monday.

It has been decided in the meeting that all 28 people will be repatriated to Bangladesh on Wednesday by Biman Bangladesh flight BG 089, according to the statement.

All 28 Bangladeshi were arrested from Thai waters more than a year ago, a foreign ministry official conformed on Tuesday.

“The embassy is now in the process of issuing travel permits for them,” the statement noted.
