New Delhi, India (BBN)-Indian soft drink Rooh Afza is mainly sold in pharmacies, rather than grocery stores, in part because it’s based on a system of herbal medicine.
The pharmaceutical non-profit behind the drink, Hamdard Laboratories, says it has grown at a rate of 20 percent in the past five years, reports BBC.
Most of the firm’s future plans are based on Rooh Afza, with almost 50 percent of its revenues coming from the drink.
The Islamic trust has plans to expand into ethnic markets in countries including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Canada and the US, as the BBC’s Shilpa Kannan reports.
