New York, US (BBN) - A thief who was shamed on social media for taking holiday decorations from a New York home has since returned the goods with a letter of apology.
A man reportedly seen in surveillance footage plucking the festive holiday laser lights from a Staten Island front yard recently was chastised by Community Education Council 31 President Michael Reilly on Facebook following the theft, reports Msn.com.
"There is no fun in being the grinch, you're going to ruin someone's holiday," Reilly wrote.
Reilly's video has since been viewed more than 130,000 times on Facebook.
Then, on Tuesday, Reilly issued an update.
"The man in the video returned the lights with a note apologising," Reilly wrote. "The family who owned the lights extends a big Thank You to everyone for sharing!"
"I wanna humbly apologise for stealing your lights. It wasn’t till I seen what you posted on Facebook that I realised what I did. I am not that person you see on the video."
