Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The country’s all scheduled banks and the central bank will remain close for three days on August 19, 20 and 21 on account of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, according to Bangladesh Bank (BB) holiday calendar.
But the holiday will be depending on sighting of the moon, said the calendar.
Besides, the central bank and other commercial banks will remain close on August 15 and 17 on account of National Mourning Day, Shab-e-Qadr and Jumatul Wida respectively. The central bank and other banks will also remain close tomorrow (Thursday) for Shuva Janmashtami.
Earlier, a BB circular on August 5 said all commercial Banks will remain open on August 18 (Saturday) for secured transaction by the clients on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. But the banks may also keep open certain branches by their own ensuring proper security measures, it noted.
The BB asked bank branches in the port areas to keep their branches open on Friday and Saturday for the exporters’ convenience.
Authorized dealer (AD) banks, which are mainly involved with export-import business, may also keep their banks open on Saturday, if necessary, by ensuring proper security measures, it added.
