Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Bangladesh Apparel and Textile Exposition (BATEXPO-2013) will kick off at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital Dhaka on October 10.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will open the three-day event at 10am on October 10, said Atiqul Islam, president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at a press conference at its city office on Saturday.

He said Leader of the Opposition in parliament Begum Khaleda Zia will attend the closing ceremony at 3.30pm on October 12 at the same venue.

BGMEA is organising this premier Apparel and Textile Show to provide unique opportunity to the overseas buyers and sourcing agents of readymade garments to choose their business partners from Bangladeshi exporters/manufacturers of readymade garments during the exposition, he added.

Atiqul said three seminars will be held on the occasion of  BATEXPO. The first seminar on 'Reinventing the RMG Sector:

Building on Social Accountability and Security' will be held on October 7. Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed and BNP leader Dr Osman Farruk will attend it.

The second seminar on 'Taking the RMG Sector forward-the role of media in sustainable development' will be held on October 8. Ambassador of the Netherlands will attend it as the chief guest.

The third seminar on 'Eco Friendly and Compliant Factory-a precondition for future business' will be held on October 10. Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni will attend it as the chief guest.
