Three-day remittance fair in Sylhet from May 21

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The first Bangladesh Remittance Fair will be held in Sylhet on May 21-23 targeting to create awareness among the remitters and the remittance beneficiaries of the devastation made by 'hundi' in the economy.

Dhaka International Exhibition Company Limited (DIEC) organized the remittance fair to gear up inflow of foreign currency through banking channel, facing the worldwide economic meltdown.

Minister for Finance Abul Maal Abdul Muhith is expected to inaugurate the fair to be held at Hafiz Complex, Dhopa Dighirpar, Sylhet.

The three-day remittance fair will include road show, a number of seminars and anti-hundi awareness program for remitters as well as remittance beneficiaries on the prevailing remittance facilities of different banks.

A total of 20 Bangladeshi commercial banks will display their remittance and expatriate banking services in the fair, the organizers said.
