Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The BBN (Bangladesh Business News) has prepared the morning business round up compiling reports, published by different newspapers and news portals in Bangladesh.

CPA restricts new vessels to use port
The Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) is not allowing new container vessels to call at the country's main port, people familiar with the matter said on Monday. They said many shipping firms have applied for launching new feeder vessels on the Chattogram-Colombo-Singapore route due to the rise in demands for both export and import cargoes.

Confiscate all properties of Chisty, wife
A Dhaka court yesterday ordered the Anti-Corruption Commission to confiscate the moveable and immoveable properties of former Farmers Bank director Mahabubul Haque Chisty and his wife Ruzi Chisty in connection with a case over laundering Tk 160 crore. Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayes of Dhaka passed the order after ACC Deputy Director Shamsul Alam, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a petition on Tuesday seeking an order for attachment of the couple's properties, ACC Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir told The Daily Star.

Bangladesh computer services exports fall in FY18
Although the government has targeted $5 billion in annual export earnings from the ICT sector by 2021, computer service exports from Bangladesh fell by 6.16% to $182 million in FY18. According to data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), Bangladesh earned $182 million from computer service exports in FY18, as compared to $193.93 million in the previous year.

Fin min advises BSEC to extend tenure of MFs by 10 years
The finance ministry has recommended that the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission should extend the tenure of around 30 closed-end mutual funds by another term of 10 years amid hectic lobbying by trustees of some of the funds. The ministry in a letter to the commission last week made the recommendation after BSEC chairman M Khairul Hossain had sought the ministry’s advice on the fate of 36 mutual funds, which would be wound up or be made open-end funds between 2018 and 2028.

UCB MD resigns
United Commercial Bank Ltd Managing Director AE Abdul Muhaimen yesterday submitted his resignation just a year after he was appointed for a three-year term. A UCB official told The Daily Star that Muhaimen tendered his resignation at a meeting of the board of directors, citing personal reasons.

Customs e-auction starts next month
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) launches three major customs automation tools in early next month to facilitate traders while checking irregularities. Customs wing of the board would launch e-auction for all customs houses across the country, start formal operation of national enquiry point and customs intelligence hotline for sharing information, officials said.

IT firms seek to continue running business in non-commercial areas
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services on Wednesday urged the government to allow IT firms continue running their businesses housed in non-commercial areas as software parks were yet to be ready for them to move in. BASIS demanded issuance of an official order in this connection.

GSK Bangladesh calls meeting over closure of Ctg factory
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Bangladesh has called an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) regarding the closure of its pharmaceuticals unit. The EGM will be held on October 14 at 11.00am. The meeting venue is yet to be announced. According to a notification on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website yesterday, the record date for the EGM is September 19.
