Tornado kills 10 in northern districts of Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- At least 10 people were killed and more than 150 injured, as tornado lashed scores of villages in seven districts of Bangladesh on Monday

A tornado, which lashed four upazilas in Jamalpur district, claimed three people. Besides 50 people were injured in Islampur, Dewanganj, Melandah and Bokshiganj upazilas.

The tornado damaged hundreds of houses and killed three people and injuring at least five others in Sherpur district.

At least two people were killed in Mymensingh district when their house collapsed.

In Gaibandha, violent storm killed a man and injured at least 45 people, and also damaged over 700 houses.

In Thakurgaon, an old woman was killed by lightning strike during a 20-minute tornado that swept over 15 villages of Sadar upazila.

The storm also swept over vast areas of a few other northern districts including Joypurhgat and Bogra.
