Train accident kills 5 in Bangladesh

Gazipur, Bangladesh (BBN) - At least five people including four of a family were killed when a train rammed a private car in Gazipur, a central city of Bangladesh, Sunday morning.
“The accident took place when a Kolkata-bound train hits a private car at Sonakhali level crossing in Kaliakoir of Gazipur around 10:15am, leaving five people on the spot,” Abdul Motaleb, officer-in-charge (OC) of the Kaliakoir Police Station, told the BBN.
The level crossing had no guard or boom barrier, the police official said.
The victims include two women, two children and the driver of the private car, the OC added.
The women were going to school to drop their children, Motaleb said.
However the details of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Rail communications between Dhaka and the northern parts of the country remains halted till filing this report around 12noon.
Following the impact of the accident, a compartment of the train was derailed, the police official added.
