train derailed in Bangladesh
Chittagong, Bangladesh (BBN)-The locomotive and two compartments of a train veered off the track as pickets removed fishplates from the railway path in Chittagong, the beach city of Bangladesh, Monday during the non-stop blockade.
Several passengers got cuts, bruises and scratches in the accident, local police said.
The rail communications of Chittagong with Dhaka and Sylhet came to a halt as pickets removed fishplates from about 70-80 feet stretch of the Dhaka-Chittagong rail line in Mirersarai area of the port city around 3:45am.
The incident occurred when Bangladesh is experiencing BNP-led 20-party alliance-sponsored non-stop blockade along with a 72-hour countrywide strike.
Witnesses said Mymensingh Express from Chittagong veered off the tracks as pickets removed fishplates from the rail line, halting the train communication of the port city with other parts of the country.
