Train rams into vehicle in India, kills 12

Harayana, India (BBN)-A vehicle in which a family was travelling in was rammed by the Dhuri-Sirsa passenger train at an unmanned rail crossing in Harayana of India, leaving 12 dead and three injured.

Among the 12 who lost their lives, four were children, and the police said that the accident, which occurred near village Sarsod village of Hisar could have happened because of low visibility due to fog, reports PTI.

Government Railway Police said the train from Dhuri in Punjab was headed to Sirsa in Haryana when the accident took place.

The driver of the vehicle was among those killed.

The victims were from village Balak and they were on their way to attend a religious function.

The three injured, who were also travelling in the Tata Magic vehicle, have been admitted to the Civil Hospital at Hisar.
