Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Workers of the five apparel units of Tuba Group will stage demonstration on Saturday to press home their demand for payment of their three months’ wage arrears.
More than 1200 workers of the garment factories of Tuba Group started a ‘fast unto death’ programme on Monday, the eve of the Eid festival, demanding payment of three months’ wages and festival bonus at Badda area in Dhaka.

The Tuba Group failed to pay the dues and festival allowances to its 1,500 employees.
Garment Workers Unity Forum president Moshrefa Mishu said they would spread this movement across the country and for this purpose “Tuba Group Workers’ Movement Committee” have been formed.
Mishu also said this committeewould hold rally countrywide, especially in Ashulia, Gazipur, Savar, Narayanganj and Chittagong.
The labour leader criticised BGMEA’s urge to the demonstrating workers to wait for seven more days for their payment while it has already been five days into their fast-unto-death strike for the arrears.
She alleged that BGMEA is overlooking the workers’ strife.
Earlier on Thursday, BGMEA vice-president SM Mannan Kochi at a press briefing assured that the workers would get their arrears within a week but worker leaders rejected such promise.
