Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Turkish Ambassador in Bangladesh M Vakur Erkul called on Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique at the latter’s office in the capital on Wednesday.

Turkish ambassador donated 56 rare books on different subjects specially Atrocities and Genocide Inflicted Upon Turks by Armenians, Armenians in the Ottoman Society, The Ottoman Army, World Heritage in Turkey, Turkish Traditional Art, the Blue Civilization, Chinese Treasures in Istanbul and Ottoman Architecture to the Vice-Chancellor.

Dr. Arefin Siddique told the Turkish Ambassador that students, teachers and researchers of Dhaka University would be highly benefited by these books, a DU press statement said.

The ambassador said that his government would provide further donation, help and cooperation to Dhaka University to strengthen the existing friendly relations between Turkey and Bangladesh.

During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest specially regarding possibilities of signing memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University and Turkish universities.

They agreed to initiate process of drafting MoU soon so that it could be signed during Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s upcoming visit to Turkey.

The vice-chancellor thanked the ambassador for his visit to Dhaka University and presenting many rare historical books for DU students and teachers.
