Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Two Bangladeshis were killed and twelve other were injured in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) Friday morning by the mortar shells launched by Hauthi rebels of Yemen.
As per initial report gathered through local Bangladesh community as well as the hospital sources, the attack was on a resident establishment at Shmtah town, only 7.0 km away from the Yemen border in Jizan, South Eastern province of the KSA, and both of the deceased were cleaning workers of Samtah General Hospital, according to a foreign ministry statement.
The deceased are Baten Miah son of Mohon Miah, Village-Gulpakuria, Police Station (PS)- Bancharampur in Brahmanbaria and Nurul Hoq, Village- Kamanna, PS-Kalihati in Tangile.
Among the injured Bangladeshis 6/7 persons were released from the hospital after primary treatment and the other 4/5 injured have been admitted in the hospital.
Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah is closely monitoring and following the situation.
“Representative of Consulate General is on the way to visit the area of incident to get the details and will visit the hospital to ensure proper treatment of the injured, the foreign ministry said in the statement on Friday night.

The Consulate General will also coordinate with the employers to send back the mortal remains and/or to arrange its burial in the KSA in line with the desire of the family members of the victims, as well as for realization of due compensation, it added.
