Two-day microfinance conference begins Bangladesh capital Saturday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - A two-day national conference on the role of microfinance institutions will begin in the capital on Saturday.

The conference styled ‘Towards Poverty Alleviation and Social Development: The Role of Microfinance Institutions’ will be held at the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) auditorium, the organizers said.

The Institute of Microfinance, PKSF and Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) are jointly organising the conference that will be attended by microcredit loan receivers, small entrepreneurs and employees of microfinance organisations.

State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan MP, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki MP and former food minister Dr Abdur Razzak are scheduled to attend three separate sessions of the opening day of the conference.

PKSF chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad will preside over the inaugural session.
