Two Dutch ministers to arrive Sunday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Two Dutch ministers will arrive in the capital, Dhaka Sunday on a two-day official visit, the Netherlands embassy said Thursday.

During the visit, Minister for Development Cooperation Bert Koenders and Vice Minister of Transport, Public Works and Water Management Tineke Huizinga will call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni and Water Resources Minister Ramesh Chandra Sen, a press statement said.

Both the ministers will also meet with members of parliament, academics, development experts as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the business community, according to the press statement.

The Netherlands started providing support for Bangladesh's development as early as 1975. Since then Bangladesh has received over US$1.0 billion from the Dutch, mostly in grants.

The Dutch government now provides development aid of 60 million euros a year for to Bangladesh through government and NGO channels for the improvement of water management, land reclamation, combating climate change, health, education and good governance.
