Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- At least two people were killed in Gaibandha and Chapainawabganj on Friday as violence continued for a second consecutive day over Sayedee verdict.
Many others, including cops, were injured when the supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir, clashed with police and ruling party men in different locations in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, two policemen who were injured in Thursday's Jamaat attack in Gaibandha died Friday. Two people succumbed to theirs injuries in Noakhali and Satkhira.
The death toll from the violence beginning on Thursday has risen to 39, though the number varies, with different private television channels putting it at more than 50.
On Thursday, at least 33 people, including four policemen, were killed and scores were injured in a spasm of violence in parts of the country after Jamaat-Shibir activists clashed with law enforcers to protest against a death penalty to Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee.
