Two RAB ‘sources’ killed in northern Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Two men, said to be the informers of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), were found dead in Gangachara upazila (sub-district) in the country’s northern district Rangpur on Thursday.

Locals put barricades on the Rangpur-Dinajpur highway for an hour, protesting the killings.

Abdus Salam and Mominul Islam were Rab sources, The Daily Star, a local newspaper, reported quoting Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangpur Kotwali Police Station Altaf Hossain.

Police recovered the bodies of Mominul and Salam at about 10:00am (local time) from beside the highway and sent those to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The victims came out of their houses at Uttam Hazir Hat in the upazila around 9:00pm Wednesday and since then they remained missing, the OC said.

The reason behind the killings was not known immediately.
