Two workers burnt in Bangladesh spinning mill fire

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Two workers suffered burn injuries as a fire broke out at a spinning mill in country’s Gazipur district Sunday morning.

The blaze originated at the generator room due to a gas leak around 6:30am (local time), a factory official confirmed.

Informed by locals, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame after two hours of frantic effort.

Of the injured, Shahjahan Miah was whisked off to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital with deteriorating condition. The other Al Amin injured received first aid at a local hospital.

Bangladesh is now the second largest garment exporter after China. The country has more than 4,000 active apparel factories, employing more than 4.0million people, 80 per cent of whom are women.
