UGC forms committee to probe irregularities

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The University Grants Commission (UGC) has formed a committee to investigate the reported ‘irregularities’ in Asian University of Bangladesh (AUB), and Victoria University.

The allegation of corruption, financial and academic irregularities in AUB, and anomalies regarding appointment of vice chancellor and pro-vice chancellor, and other academic irregularities in Victoria University, which had been reported in detail in the newspaper, had drawn attention of the commission, a UGC press statement said on Saturday.

Following the reports, a four-member probe committee, headed by UGC Member Prof Aatful Hye Shibly, has been formed.
