United Power rules DSE’s top return chart for 5th week

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd (UPGDCL) continued to dominate the week’s top turnover chart for the five consecutive weeks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) that ended on Thursday.
A total of 7.75 million shares worth BDT 1.46 billion changed hands during the week. Daily average for the company was BDT 366.79 million.
The company’s share closed at 198.7 on Thursday, the last trading day of the week, registering an increase of 8.57 percent over the previous week.
The power generation & distribution company made trading debut on April 5, 2015, with an offer price of BDT 72, including a premium of BDT 62 for each ten taka share under the book building method.
The company raised a fund worth above BDT 2.37 billion through IPO.
United Power is the first company, which came under the modified book-building method.
It is the 18th listed company in the ‘fuel and power’ sector on the DSE that accounts for 12.43 percent of the total market capitalisation.
The company has reported net profit BDT 1,757.84 million for the nine months January to September-2014 against BDT 1,344.50 million in the same period last year.
Pre-IPO EPS is BDT 5.92 and Post-IPO EPS is BDT 5.33.
The company’s authorized capital BDT 8.0 billion and paid-up capital BDT 3.20 billion, according to DSE website information.
Of the total share – sponsor/directors held by 90 percent, institutions held 5.5 per cent while general public held 4.5 percent shares.
The week’s other turnover leaders were ACI Formulations worth BDT 746.70 million changed hands followed by ACI BDT 444.54 million, SPCL BDT 444.54 million, IFAD Autos BDT 442.52 million, MJL BD BDT 409.72 million.
The lone listed mobile phone company, GrameenPhone, also came to the top turnover list with shares worth BDT 344.28 million changed hands followed Saif Powertec BDT 337.94 million, Square Pharma BDT 323.54 million and Western Marine Shipyard worth BDT 320.33 million changed hands last week.
