Update: storms kill 10 in southwestern Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- At least 10 people were killed and 20 others wounded as violent storms swept  in the country’s southwester Satkhira, Bagerhat, Jessore and Khulna districts on Saturday.
Six people were killed in lightning strike and wall collapse during the storm in Satkhira Saturday morning, according to reports.
Witnesses said the violent storm that roared through the district at about 9:30 also damaged standing Boro crops on vast tracts of land and uprooted many trees.
In Bagerhat, two people were killed when a violent storm lashed the district Saturday morning. 
The storm also damaged 50 houses and standing Boro crops at Arjun Bahar and Kapalibandar villages in sadar upazila (sub-district) of the district.
A farmer was instantly killed and another was injured by thunderbolt when they were working at Sharifpur field at Basatpur village in Sharsha upazila under Jessore during storm in Saturday afternoon. 
Lightning strike killed a HSC 2nd year student and injured his batch-mate during thunderstorm on the bank of Bhairab River in the compound of Subodh Chandra Hostel of Government BL College at Daulatpur in Khulna at 9:00 am.
