Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – U.S. Under Secretary of State Richard Bouchar has expressed satisfaction over improvement of human rights situation, poverty alleviation and continued progress in establishing good governance in Bangladesh

He expressed the satisfaction when State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Dr Hasan Mahmud called on him in Washington, an official press statement said on Tuesday night.

The state minister spent a busy day in Washington on Monday, holding meetings with a number of U.S. leaders, the statement added.

During an hour-long meeting with Bouchar, he discussed different issues included Bangladesh economy, environment and security affairs. Bouchar assured continued U.S. assistance for Bangladesh in those issues.

The state minister also held a meeting with U.S. National Security Council Senior Director Donald Camp who lauded various programs undertaken by the government led by Sheikh Hasina.

He sought active cooperation from the U.S. government, especially in terms of logistics and training to combat terrorism, trafficking and smuggling of narcotics.

Donald Camp expressed the willingness of his government to work in close cooperation with the countries in South Asia in effectively combating the terrorist elements.

The state minister also met with World Watch Institute President Christopher Flevin, according to the statement.
