Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- US Ambassador James F Moriarty at a meeting with Commerce Minister Faruk Khan in his office Tuesday assured continuation of his country’s assistance to the socio-economic development of Bangladesh.
The minister and the ambassador discussed bilateral issues, including expanding trade relations between two countries, Dhaka-New York air service, Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) and regional trade.
The US envoy reiterated cooperative attitude of his country towards energy sector, especially exploration of gas and setting up power plants.
Mr. Faruk informed the envoy that Bangladesh is scrutinizing three TIFA related issues — standard of labour, environment and intellectual propriety rights – keeping in view the national interest.
