Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The U.S. and Bangladesh militaries are participating in a joint “Tiger Shark” exercise in the Chittagong Division through November to increase counter terrorism capabilities.

“Units from the Bangladesh Navy and the U.S. military will train on counter terrorism and combating piracy and maritime and coastal threats during this exercise,” a U.S. embassy press statement said in the capital, Dhaka on Monday.

In particular, the U.S. forces will be working with the Bangladesh Navy’s Special Warfare Dive and Salvage unit.

This Tiger Shark exercise is one of many joint activities conducted by the U.S. armed forces and the Bangladesh military.

“Our militaries have a long history of working in partnership for humanitarian assistance and medical training and have also conducted air, land and sea exercises,” the statement noted.
