Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– US oil and gas giant Chevron has promised to complete timely their gas exploration projects in Bangladesh and do whatever necessary to increase gas production. 
Visiting President of Chevron Asia Pacific Exploration and Production Company of USA Melody Meyer made the commitment when she paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office in the capital Dhaka on Tuesday.
After the meeting, PM’s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad briefed reporters.
In response, Sheikh Hasina said her government during the first stint in power from 1996 to 2001opened the gas sector for private sectors and expressed satisfaction over the presence of big companies like Chevron in the sector.
Appreciating Chevron’s operation in Bangladesh contributing to its economic growth, she said her government encourages both public and private entrepreneurs of the United States to come forward and invest in Bangladesh’s energy sector in a bigger way.
Ambassador-At-Large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Sheikh Wahid Uz Zaman and PMO Secretary Molla Waheeduzzaman were present on the occasion.
