US congressional delegation visits Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- U.S. Representative Jack Kingston (R-GA), Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies led a one-day visit by a U.S. Congressional Delegation to the capital Dhaka on Sunday.
The delegation held consultations on public health, environmental and labor issues to further strengthen the partnership between the United States and Bangladesh, a US embassy press statement said in Dhaka.
“The Congressional Delegation met with Government of Bangladesh officials to discuss these and other bilateral interests,” it noted.  
The Delegation toured the ICDDR,B to discuss U.S.-Bangladesh cooperation on public health issues, and visited a garment factory in Dhaka to inform future discussions on labor and bilateral trade issues. 
Other delegation members were Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA), House Appropriations Committee; Representative Scott Tipton (R-CO), House Agriculture Committee and House Natural Resources Committee; Representative Ed Whitfield (R-KY), House Energy & Commerce Committee; and Representative Dan Benishek (R – MI).
