Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Dr James A Schear will arrive in the capital Dhaka on Monday.
During his visit, he will convey the US government’s appreciation for Bangladesh’s extensive commitments to peacekeeping operations, a US Embassy press statement said.
Dr Schear and his delegation will observe the opening of the Shanti Doot 3 exercise on March 8 and deliver a keynote speech.
He is due to visit a multi-purpose cyclone shelter, supported by the US government humanitarian assistance funds, and to observe a disaster response simulation in Patuakhali district.
He will also meet with Bangladesh government officials in Dhaka and deliver a speech at the National Defense College.
Dr Schear advises the US Department of Defense’s leadership on all matters pertaining to stabilization and reconstruction operations, foreign disaster relief, humanitarian assistance, international peacekeeping efforts and non-combatant evacuations. 
He was appointed in 2009. This is his first visit to Bangladesh.
