Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– The US dollar has continued to gain against Bangladesh Taka (BDT) for three days in a row mainly due to short supply of the greenback in the inter-bank foreign exchange market, officials said.

“The upward trend may continue this week with growing demand for the US dollar to settle import payments particularly petroleum products,” a senior treasury official of a commercial bank said.

The US dollar was quoted at BDT 69.7200-BDT 69.7500 in the inter-bank foreign exchange market on Wednesday against BDT 69.6950- BDT 69.7300 of the previous working day, market operators confirmed.

On Monday, the US dollar was quoted at BDT 69.6600-BDT 69.6950 in the forex market.
