Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The US dollar gained slightly against Bangladesh Taka (BDT) on Sunday due to short supply of the greenback in the inter-bank foreign exchange market, officials said.

“The demand for greenback has increased slightly as the banks are continuing buying pressure to maintain their net open position (NOP) limits properly,” a senior treasury official of a commercial bank said without elaborating.

The US dollar was traded at BDT 69.7900-BDT 69.8100 in the inter-bank foreign exchange market on Sunday against BDT 69.7500-BDT 69.7950 of the previous working day, the market operators said.

On the other hand, the inter-bank call money rate eased further in the range between 4.00 per cent and 5.50 per cent on the day due to increased inflow of fund into the market.
