Kathmandu, Nepal (BBN)- U.S. Ambassador to Nepal Nancy J. Powell called on Nepal’s President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Wednesday.

“The meetings were part of her final farewell calls,” said U.S. Embassy Spokesperson Nicole Chulick reportedly said.

Ambassador Powell is returning to the State Department as Director General of the Foreign Service and Director of Human Resource. Powell is leaving for Washington DC at the end of this week, Chulick added.

During the meeting with prime minister, they discussed Nepal’s peace process, U.S. assistance to Nepal and the constitution-drafting process.

Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Rajan Bhattarai said that Ambassador Powell pledged to make more efforts to increase the U.S. assistance to the new government in Nepal.

The U.S. ambassador also called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at the latter’s office in the capital and discussed bilateral relations and the ongoing political process in Nepal.
