U.S. Navy Secretary to visit Bangladesh

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus will arrive in the capital Dhaka on Friday for two days of meetings and discussions with government and military officials.
“Secretary Mabus’s visit to Bangladesh is intended to deepen the bilateral security relationship between the United States and Bangladesh, and offer appreciation the Government of Bangladesh for its continued friendship and support to the U.S,” a US embassy statement said in Dhaka on Thursday. 
The secretary will discuss regional priorities, peacekeeping, defense reforms, and security assistance with a view towards identifying opportunities to further developing the relationship between the two countries. 
He will depart on July 15.
Ray Mabus is the 75th United States Secretary of the Navy. As Secretary, he leads America’s Navy and Marine Corps and is responsible for an annual budget in excess of $150 billion and almost 900,000 people. He joined the administration of President Barack Obama on May 21, 2009.
