Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy R. Sherman arrives in the capital Dhaka on April 5 as part of a three-country visit to Bangladesh, India and Nepal.  
While in Dhaka, Under Secretary Sherman will meet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia and others to strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation with Bangladesh across a range of issues including security cooperation, civil society, women’s empowerment, development assistance and economic prosperity, a US embassy press statement said on Wednesday.
Under Secretary Sherman is the Department of State’s third-highest-ranking official, serving as the day-to-day manager of overall regional and bilateral policy issues. 
She was sworn in as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs on September 21, 2011.
