Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The upward trend of US dollar against the Bangladesh Taka continued on Tuesday in the inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The US dollar was BDT 78.71-78.72 in the evening market.
It was 78.68-72 on previous day.
“Demand for US dollar remained almost stable in the market on Tuesday following as usual import payment obligations,” a senior treasury official of a leading private commercial bank (PCB) told the BBN in Dhaka.
The exchange rate of the US currency against BDT may rise in the coming days, the treasury official added.
On Monday, the BDT depreciated by maximum seven paisa against the US dollar mainly due to higher demand for the greenback in the market.
However, the local currency deprecated by around six paisa against the US dollar at customer level on Monday on the same ground, another treasury official added.
The US dollar was quoted at BDT 78.65 on Sunday.

The exchange rate of the US dollar at customer level rose to BDT 79.4615 on Tuesday from BDT 79.3740 of the previous day. It was 79.3740 on Thursday.
