Visiting US envoy for global women's issues meets BNP chairperson

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Visiting US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women's Issues Melanne Verveer on Tuesday night said the people of Bangladesh will have to get together to address the country's problems and face the future challenges.

She made the remarks while talking to reporters after she paid a courtesy call on Leader of the Opposition and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office in the capital, Dhaka.

Verveer also said they had wonderful discussions covering the country's ongoing achievements in various areas, including girl education, women empowerment, investment in women sector, agriculture productivity and climate change.

She arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon on a three- day visit to Bangladesh.

BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain, BNP chairperson's Foreign Affairs Advisers Reaz Rahman, Reaz Rahman and US Ambassador to Bangladesh James F Moriarty were present.
