Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The news of the creation of three times as many private-sector jobs as expected in U.S market turned Wall Street into gains this week. 
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) added 158.07 points or 1.37 percent over the week. The Nasdaq Composite index gained 40.21 points or 1.51 percent during the same time.
Japan’s Nikkei average rose to an eight month high above 10,500 points as investors snapped up shares of Japanese exporters after the USD hit two-week highs against the JPY. Nikkei 225 index added 292.35 points or 2.86 percent over the week.
Locally, the Dhaka stocks suffered heavily mainly due to tight liquidity conditions in the market following central bank’s recent measures to curb inflationary pressure. The Dhaka Stock Exchange General Index (DGEN) shed off 555.19 points or 6.7 percent over the week.
