Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Warid Telecom Tuesday signed an agreement with interconnection exchange (ICX) operator M&H Telecom for routing domestic inter-operator and international calls to and from Warid Telecom network.
Warid Telecom Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muneer Farooqui and Managing Director of M&H Telecom Brig. Gen. (retd.) Mustafizur Rahman signed the agreement at a ceremony held at the Warid Telecom’s Corporate Head Office in Dhaka, a press statement said.
On the occasion, Mr. Farooqui said that Warid Telecom had signed this agreement with M&H Telecom in compliance with the International Long Distance Telecommunications Services (ILDTS) Policy-2007.
The policy stipulates all the access network service operators must interconnect through the ICXs to route their domestic and international calls.
The CEO hoped that the deal would facilitate Warid subscribers to make and receive smooth and congestion-free calls to and from other operators.
The Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) earlier granted two ICX licences to the private sector for routing voice calls of all operators. The ICXs serve as a domestic and international interconnection hub for ANS (Access Network Service) operator.
