Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Hour into extension of general strike, Bangladesh government has again rescheduled Wednesday’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations for Saturday.
Wednesday’s examination will be held on Saturday due to unavoidable circumstances, said Nurul Islam Nahid, the education minister of Bangladesh, during a press briefing in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, Tuesday afternoon.
The minister made the announcement immediately after the BNP-led 20-party alliance extended its ongoing 72-hour general strike till 6:00pm Thursday.
The Bangla-II paper examination will begin at 10:00am and continue till 1:00pm, the minister added.
Earlier on February 1, the Bangla 1st paper examination which was expected to be held on February 2 was rescheduled for February 6 as BNP has been enforcing a 72 hour strike since Sunday.
The SSC and its equivalent examinations were scheduled to begin on February 2 across Bangladesh.
But the political turmoil has already deferred the examinations for two times, leaving nearly 15 lakh SSC students in jeopardy.
So far, at least 50 people, mostly innocent, were killed and dozens including law enforcers injured in the mindless act of arson and petrol bomb attacks across the country during the non-stop blockade that begin on January 5.
The political situation worsens more as the alliance is enforcing general strike frequently along with the blockade in the country.
